In December, B and I hopped on a very crowded TGV and headed to the Alsace region of France. Our destination: Strasbourg. The town is basically on the German border and historically switched hands many times between France and Germany. It has been entirely French since the end of WWII, but maintains a German flair. Interestingly enough, Strasbourg is the Christmas capital of the world. It's like an explosion of Christmas when you are there. You're expecting Rudolph and some elves to pop out at anytime, but all you get are crowds and crowds of French people wandering aimlessly down the street smoking cigarettes.
Today I plan to show you our photos from the town. Photos of the Christmas markets for which the town is famous and photos of our dining experiences will follow in the coming days. For now, here's a glimpse at Strasbourg. You'll note a difference in architecture from other areas of France. This among other things really sets Alsace apart from the rest of the country.
