Les Bouquinistes

Since I moved here in August, I have been intrigued by a restaurant just down the street, Les Bouquinistes.  It is named after the booksellers that line the Seine and is a restaurant created in part by Guy Savoy.  Just walking by the large glass windows and cool artwork makes you want to stop what you are doing and see if they can squeeze you in for dinner.  So, it is a bit surprising that it took me so long to try this establishment.

I will say this first: hands down the best service I have had in any restaurant in Paris.  Our waiter was not in the least French-waiteresque.  Instead he was superb, attentive, and friendly.  The food was inventive; both B and I enjoyed it.  However, it paled in comparison with L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon which had been our dinner the night before.  It's not really fair to compare the two places, though.  I might have been more impressed with the food at Les Bouquinistes if I had not eaten the best thing ever in my whole life the night before.  Without hesitation, I recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a cool atmosphere with great service, delicious breads and good food.

Lobster with a crab and beet napoleon.

Ravioli with snails and gambas.

Sea bass with risotto and chorizo (and the ever present foam).

Ribeye steak with potato "pancakes."

Crème brulée with a clementine sorbet.

Fondant au chocolat with praline ice cream.
