I'm a warm weather gal. You might not think that if you saw my closet full of winter coats (I am a freak for cute coats), but I am. Something inside of me awakens each spring once the trees start to bloom, the air starts to warm, and the sun starts to shine. So, it has been with bated breath that I have waited for spring to make its grand entrance to Paris. It took a while, but it is finally here!
B and I decided to take advantage of the warm weather and blue skies by having a picnic on the Pont des Arts.
To fill our picnic basket, we looked no further than this awesome French staple: rotisserie chicken with potatoes soaked in the drippings.
View from Pont des Arts, where we sat down on a bench to enjoy...
this delicious lunch. It could not have gotten any better than this.
Next we walked off the chicken and potatoes by heading to Parc des Buttes Chaumont which is a bit out of our zip code. It was a marvelous way to spend the first day of true spring weather in Paris. There were wide open spaces and green grass one could actually lie on (what is it with the French and not letting people sit on the grass in public parks?).
We hiked up a hill to spead out our blanket and relax.
We weren't the only ones with this idea on such a gorgeous day. However, we were one of the few couples there who weren't also sucking down cigarette after cigarette in true French fashion. Gotta hand it to the Parisians for being consistent; nothing like some cigarette smoke to improve the fresh air :)
View from our perch on the hill at the park.
Checking out the waterfall.
There is a beautiful lake and rock formation that serves as the centerpiece of the park. If you are in Paris and have never been to this park, head there on a sunny day for great views and some much needed relaxation.
